The Summary of The Samaritan Acts and Scenes

Act II Scene I Summary

Alvita and Montano pay their Ethics and Innovation Teacher, Nicole, a surprise visit at her office in the morning. a day after the Mayor, Mr. Harvester and Inspector Bembe hold a crisis meeting. The students express their fear that The Samaritan, their own innovation, may get their teacher into trouble but she allays their fear, informing them that all would be well. After the students settle on their seats, Alvita raises her suspicion about the postponement of the launch of The Samaritan, with Montano wondering why leaders would reject what is good for the people. Nicole, however, tells them that they are still too young to understand certain issues.

Nicole probes her two students' knowledge of what happened in the parable of the Good Samaritan, and the two narrate the content of the parable, correctly. She then tells them she felt inspired by the naming of the innovation The Samaritan since it made her realise that the people of their municipality were like the Jewish man in many ways;, that the people they would expect to help them- their leaders and their public officials-could not come to their aid. She compares them to the priest and the Levite in the Biblical parable of the Good Samaritan.

Nicole tells Alvita (and Montano) that The Samaritan App is an excellent platform that gives everyone an opportunity to speak out against wrongdoing and to share ideas that would make life better for everyone. Although Alvita and Montano are sceptical about the success of the App in the face of its hostile reception by the Municipal leaders, Nicole is upbeat that it will still change the course of history in their Municipality. She advises them not to be discouraged or afraid, for the two were promising students, and encourages them to work hard noting they would go very far.
