1. How to prepare before giving an oral report

a. The person giving a report(giver) should:

·         Have a pen and a paper to take notes

·         Get any visual supportive material for stressing facts in the report

·         Rehearse how to deliver the report

·         Research of more aspects to include in the report eg by asking people.

·         Groom well.

·         Make some notes on the content of the report

b. The person receiving the report(receiver) should

·         Have a pen and paper ready to take some notes

·         Sit attentively and focus on the reporter

·         Prepare some questions you can ask the report giver.

4. Skills needed when one is giving an Oral Reports

·         Use apt tempo and project your voice.

·         Use non-verbal cues such aptly

·         Indicate whether you were a witness of

·         you were told of it.

·         Be specific without giving alternatives or after-thoughts

·         Identify the specific names of places.

·         Specify the time that whatever you are reporting took place.

·         Mention the main event you are reporting about.

·         Be specific with the names of people and their descriptions in terms of clothing, size, complexion, age

·         Ascertain whether the person has got the Oral Reports.

·         Make the report brief

6. Skills when one is receiving Oral Reports

·         Have eye contact with the report giver to get non-verbal cues.

·         Take notes of key aspects of the report in terms of the event, place, and time.

·         Ask what you have not got right.

·         Repeat the report to ascertain if you got it right.

·         Be a good listener by avoiding any distraction

·         Ensure good turn-taking in the conversation.
